Help! Yes this is 1000% my fault. But I need any advice that is out there if anyone has any, and thank you in advance. Also, please be gentle, I know this was such a dumb move on my part.
TL; DR: I agreed to take a paycut because I didn't take 2 extra seconds to double check.
So I have been at my current co. for about 4 years. In that time they have descended into a total shit show, regularly laying people off in waves and reassuring us it wont happen again only to have it happen again. They finally had to fire everyone with less than a weeks notice at the end of June because they literally ran out of money. It more than sucks.
Anyway instead of closing they sold parts off to someone else and during all of this turmoil and duress of losing all of our co workers so suddenly, trying to help the folks I was managing find new jobs, or connect them with people on Linked In, I also received a job offer for the “new” version of the co. in its much smaller state. I assumed they were keeping my salary and title as is from the email phrasing that was sent out with the offer.
They paid everyone out on 7/7 the final day for our old bank account. We were not paid again until this morning 7/29 which is when I realized my mistake here in taking a pay cut (thousands $ lower/yrly). I already sent a message to our CEO and HR person, but my question here is 2 fold.
- Is there anything I can do to get my salary adjusted at this point
- If not, is there any way I can negotiate having the job offer rescinded so I can collect UE and put in notice?
