I’ve been working at this company for about 5 months now and I was originally hired as a digital marketing intern at a completely remote job. I now work with one of my coworkers on a daily basis working with mentally disabled individuals and teaching them life skills and teaching them how to read and write. I don’t mind doing this, however, this is not what I was hired for and I don’t understand my position.
The job provides no clear sense of direction, there is constant miscommunication, and my work schedule is inconsistent. Last week I was at about 37 hours and for this week I’m at 9.
I talked to my boss about the next steps in my career and he was talking about me joining some apprenticeship type program? I’d start off at $19.05 an hour (I make $18) and then eventually get to $24.45 (after receiving my CAPM certification and I’m about 1.5 years) I would be required to work with them with a three year commitment.
Is it legal for a company to tell you that you must work with them for a certain amount of years with them? And are apprenticeship programs really worth it?
