My workplace has a shift change that happens every week from 6am-2pm one week to 2pm-10pm the other week. I’ve worked here for over a year and im still unable to adjust to it and I’m fairly certain is affected my mental health at least a little. The 2pm-10pm shift is my preferred shift and only having 2 days to change my sleeping pattern isn’t healthy, on 2am-10am I’ll go to sleep around 2am-3am and wake up at 10am-11am and feel well rested but going onto the next shift I’ll be going to sleep at 11pm-12pm and it completely fucks with me and I’m almost always tired on 6am-2pm. Others have told me that they feel the same and I don’t understand why they keep this system I don’t see the benefit to the business at all, why not keep it to just a non rotating shift, you can keep the shifts just make them so they don’t rotate? And I feel people would be happier and not sleep deprived.
