I switched departments at work about 5 months ago. I was working monday- friday. 8h shifts. All days. Roughly 215-220 days a year.
I'm now on shift. 12h days. 4 on 4 off. 2 days 2 nights. So I only get up early 2 days a tour. I was worried how I was going to fair with this schedule and honestly, I'll never go back!
I work less than half the year now! If you removed my 2 weeks holidays and floaters, I really only work 160-170 days a year. And that does not account for time i can take with any banked overtime i get. That's a difference of 55 or so days!!!! Like nearly 2 extra months of freedom!
I highly recommend it, If you can find yourself a shift position!
