Shitty companies can have good bosses, good companies can have shitty bosses.

I started working at my current employer about 3 years ago, Immediately placed in a team lead role.(“lead” as in “does more work but only slight pay increase” not a manager) While I'd like to say my time here was great I ended up under a shitty supervisor. I was expected to come early, stay late, work my ass off to cover the lack of workers, criticised for using all 15m of my breaks. Every day felt like a slog and constantly training new people due to high turnover was draining both mentally and emotionally. To be honest, I was planning to quit but then I was given an opportunity to work under another supervisor in a different wing of the food plant. Let me tell you, it was like night and day. While I'd like to say my time here was great I ended up under a shitty supervisor.

My new supervisor was the polar opposite.
From day one joining that crew, I knew I was going to stay.
Longer breaks, better staffing, people smiled and each position was either filled or considered “extra hands” to fill when other shifts lost hours. He made a point of leaving an entire positions work undone for weeks when management refused to hire someone new. “If you expect my crew to pick up part of the missing work, they should expect part of the missing person's wage” My new boss fought for my raises, trained me in everything he knows and then get me placed in a cushy spot with 10% as much actual work to do than my old spot, for more pay. I used to dread coming to work but now I know even a shitty day(breakdowns and massive messes) over here in production is going to be better than a good day in packaging.

I know this sub is about being against work but imo, I very much look up to my current boss and some day I can see myself in his position, fighting for those under me.

Good jobs are out there, never feel bad about moving around between companies or even internally. Don't just complain about your current jobs.

Try to make things better for coworkers who may be struggling and if you end up in a position of authority, fight for your subordinates to have an easier time.
