Hi folks, I wanted some advice on this because I am a bit in shock.
I have been interviewing for a position that has, no lie, taken me almost a full 3 months. I've moved through 3 interviews and even had do a presentation to the Executive Director of the org! This isn't even the highest position in the org, not even close tbh.
In the middle of the hiring process I asked the HR person what the salary range was and they told me the salary I put in the “desired salary” was within range and they showed me the range and the number I put was actually the highest point of the salary range. For context: there was no salary in the job posting
So I'm writing to you all today because I was actually offered the position but they offered me a salary that's severely lower than I expected, almost $20,000 less. I'm shocked because the HR person already knew what I asked for and they even confirmed to me that it was doable and I ended up getting such a low offer. What's double shocking is that the offered salary is even less than the salary range they shared with me…..
No words, do y'all have any advice? I will definitely be asking for more of course but any input would be great!
EDIT: Should probably have added that I've been unemployed for a few months (because my last job discriminated against me) and have been applying and interviewing for jobs ever since. So I am shamefully a bit desperate 🥴 but also want to be paid my worth
