I'd love for people to talk their feelings out on this subject because mine are complicated.
The necessity for dual income came after the work force essentially doubled, when women entered it. It's great that we have removed some obstacles that women face, and I wouldn't want to enact any changes that might put said obstacles back.
At the same time, families seem overburdened with financial and psychological responsibilities, and having kids doesn't seem possible for some. And having at least the choice to have one full-time parent has so many benefits to mental health and stability for young children.
So should families have a right to a single income liveable wage? How do we do that? We want people to have a choice of wether to be single or married, have children or not. So that would seem to rule out financial incentives for one type of family status or another.
What do you all think?
