To give some context I have a pretty good job, I am paid in the top 5% in my field and I am the highest paid in my position at work. I typically receive a 2-2.5% raise each year which I am content with. Obviously this past year has been different and I moved to a very expensive home and my wife is now stay at home with two toddlers which had made things harder so we could really use the help. I last met with my boss in person two years ago and asked for a very large raise and he said yes. This time I am debating whether or not to do it by email asking for 5% to make up for inflation. I wanted to reserve requests for important times so it’s more likely to be granted. Should I ask or let it go? Thanks
