Should I be a no show?

I’m scheduled to work this Thursday as an opener at my grocery store job but due to an appointment that I could only schedule for that time, I can’t come to work. There have been times where coworkers of mine have simply just called out last minute or just don’t show up leaving me as the only cashier working. I told my manager multiple times that I can’t work this Thursday but she just told me to find a cover but it’s hard to with everyone either in school or just being a no show plus me having no one’s contact info so I thought about doing it too since I can’t work that day. I thought managers are the ones to find a replacement not the employee so is this a bad idea?
