Should I burn bridge?

I recently got an offer for a new full-time job which puts my foot in the door of the tech field (finally!). I've been working part-time as a cashier at a grocery store during my search for a job in my field of interest. Tomorrow is supposed to be my last day to cashier, and then I start my new job this week. I'm thinking of calling the day off to reset myself until I work my new job.. I know the term “don't burn bridges” is common, but how important is my bridge to a grocery store job when I am now completely switching fields?
