Should I feel guilty for calling out of work when we’re short staffed

I just started working as a server at a new high-end restaurant. So far I’ve worked 4 shifts and the total tips I’ve made came out to ~$8/hr. They barely get any costumers on the weekdays, but the kitchen can’t keep up when it does get busy. food is way overpriced and there are too many menu items for the kitchen to keep up with. To the point where I have had to comp so much food bc it takes over an hour to come out, which robs me of my tips. Well tonight it’s just me, a bartender, and a new guy, and the owners just added 10 new, heavily overpriced, menu items tonight. I’m so over this, I told the manager I was sick and couldn’t come in tonight. I feel bad bc I’m pretty much the only server for a Saturday night, but this business is run…
