I am currently at a job that isn’t great but I needed when I came back. I worked for them a couple years ago and left. I had a drug problem and checked myself into a long term rehab to get myself back together. Towards the end of rehab, I was able to get rehired but at an entry level position. It’s been almost a year since I’ve been back and an opportunity came up paying more with better hours and closer to home. My manager put in a good word for me and I went to meet management at the other location. Everything was great but my store director was on vacation. They wanted to finalize things with him before transferring me there. When my director returned, he came up to confront me. He told me that they were no longer interested and I should speak to him first next time. He didn’t offer to match theirs or anything. I can only assume he told the other director about my past issue which I’ve worked hard to get past. I’ve already taken a job elsewhere but I’m working out my 2 weeks notice. Should I report this to HR that my opportunity to move forward was taken bc someone had confidential information of my past? I think he held me back to keep his own numbers solid. I hate to make waves but this has really upset me and shown me his true colors. What would you do?
