Shy teens, stop caring about bad impressions, ASK IN DETAIL ABOUT YOUR SALARY WHEN APPLYING FOR A JOB

This is especially for introverted and shy teens looking for a job who don‘t know any better: When applying for a job ask about your wage! Might seem obvious, but when I was 15 I was very shy and humble. I talked to a restaurant manager because I wanted to work as a waitress (which I don‘t recommend btw). Since it‘s looked down upon to talk about money I didn‘t ask her what I was getting per hour as I hoped she‘d tell me sooner or later herself (which she didn‘t lol) I worked for a month during summer with a scheduled for like 5-6 days a week in a row. I had to help in the kitchen, make drinks, work at the register, serve customers, clean tables and so on and so forth. I was excited for my paycheck until I realized I was making less than minimum wage.…

I was excited for my paycheck until I realized I was making less than minimum wage. This b*tch had the audacity to exploit me by making me work twice as much as other coworkers + paying me less than probably everyone else at work. I didn‘t have the courage to discuss those matters so I just quit for seemingly no apparent reason.

Idgfa if asking about wages yourself is rude. Ask straight away, word it differently (“compensation per hour“ or whatever“, idgfa, but make sure you know what you‘re getting before you start working.
