If I call out 3 more days I will be fired. It doesnt matter that I also do back up dispatch, with no additional pay. (I asked for a raise 2, almost 3 months ago… and Ive been told to be patient, this takes times).
It doesnt matter that I exceed all of their expectations and goals, or that I always offer to help (overtime that sometimes you can say no to sometimes you cant) with a postive attitude.
I have 2 kids, both in daycare. Annd when my kids are sick Im more worried about losing my job then my kids. Cause I know my kids will get better. I just dont know if itll take 1 day or 3 each time theyre sick. And I understand not having sick kids in daycare is a good idea. But Im soo frustrated that there is no other options. I have 5 days for an entire year for 3 people (myself and 2 kids) and young kids get sick frequently when theyre still building an immune system and being exposed to more germs then they ever have before.
Their dad called off for nearly 2 weeks straight cause one kid was sick then the other. He has the luxury of being able to take unpaid days off without being penalized for it. (Which is sad that that is a perk to me) but he also doesnt have a formal system so he is worried that he is taking too much time off and is also worried about being fired. Its usually a fight of who calls off when there is a sick kid.
(We both have cdl jobs so working from home is not an option)
So 3 more days before January 1st and Im fired. And my pto is negative. So if Im fired I wont be paid for my last week of work cause theyll take my negative pto amount out of my pay. And if I lose my job I wont be able to pay for daycare, which will make finding a job so much harder. And if it takes too long to find a job I might just lose a vehicle.
