So this happened about 4 years ago when I was still 16. I saw another post just now that reminded me of it.
I used to work at the brick as a warehouse employee (terrible company, they will short you on paycheques everytime and fight with you over it) and about a month and a half into my employment the store owner/GM pulled each warehouse employee into his office and had us all sign an agreement stating we couldn’t have phones on company property, and couldn’t talk with our coworkers at all. This didn’t pertain to any other position, sales people were allowed to sit on the furniture all night on their phones while chatting with each other.
All of the warehouse employees were obviously annoyed by this, so we followed what the agreement stated. Which was that there was to be no interaction between warehouse employees. Needed more then one person to move furniture and load a vehicle ? Not happening since I can’t ask my coworkers for help. Need something moved to a safe space that needs 3 people ? Can’t be done, not allowed to talk to my coworkers. Furniture needs to be moved onto the display floor ? Ohh no, we can’t talk to each other. Within about 3 days we were all taken back into the office and told that the agreement was being thrown out.
Moral being, let your employees socialize and they’ll ensure your business is actually making a profit. Hard to earn money when your product isn’t leaving the warehouse.
