So, I keep reading that people think we make more money then we should now a days. The Silent and Boomer generation just don't want to hear the truth at all. And we the people here now won't band together to do anything. So here is my rant on work… It's price of living compared in 1960 to now. The boomers and silent generation could afford to live selling lemonade for crying out loud. And remember nobody was paying minimum wage in 1960, other than to teens or younger people just getting into the work force. I am going to use a secretary position for the comparison.
1960/month 2022/month
Income: Average $364/month gross=$320net | Average $2946/month gross=$2416 |
---|---|
Housing: $70. Left $250 | Housing: $1120. Left $1296 |
Car: $50. Left $200 and that was a new one | Car: $300. Left 996 and this is a really used one |
Gas: $3/800miles. Left $197 | Gas: $400/800miles. Left $596 |
Car insurance: $3. Left $194 | car insurance: $150. Left $446 |
Health insurance: $4 Left $190 | Health insurance: $450. Left -$4 |
Food, phone, utilities: $50. Left $140 | Food, internet, phone, utilities: $700. Left. -$704 |
Edit 1: the gas for the 1960 would have been $18… so there would be $125 left for the 1960.
Now this is just the bare minimum, never mind clothes, auto repair, dentist and any other things we need to put money on… We don't have enough to survive. The numbers would even be worst for someone now in NY or LA, or anywhere people want to be.
So wake up people, we will not be able to do it alone, we need to unite and do something…
