Think the big issue is companies refusing to do any on the job training like decades ago. They want to pass the buck on individuals going through whether it be technical school, traditional college, etc….
When a lot of these “skilled” positions could have the gist understood with a couple of weeks of on the job training. I get this doesn’t fall for every job but certainly a lot.
Degree and experience requirements bar out a lot of people who could end up doing the work.
Not saying this is the only problem. Stagnant wages across pay grades are another but it is almost impossible to NOT get a grunt level job these days.
