So I just got a job…

30 years old. Medically retired from the military just before COVID. Been knocking out a degree but I want to tackle some home reno projects. Local ski resort had a posting, I applied for shits and giggles and somehow landed the job. The pay and benefits are decent, hiring process and onboarding were super easy, and the work life is pretty relaxed. They even have a pretty generous vacation policy. But they’re owned by one of the larger ski corporations. This organization isn’t unionized. A nearby resort (owned by a competing org) just had a bad accident this year where an employee was killed. Resort employment all season has been low, and wages haven’t been keeping up with local cost of living. I legitimately do want to keep this job, because the work seems interesting and the benefits are nice (free ski pass!). I’m thinking I should push for the…

I legitimately do want to keep this job, because the work seems interesting and the benefits are nice (free ski pass!). I’m thinking I should push for the parent org to unionize, starting with my resort.

Does anyone have any advice / info on starting a unionization effort?
