How many of you are downsizing your lifestyle as a way to escape the rat race of work?
I lived with my parents until I was 28 years old. At 28, I moved out and rented a 2k/month 500 sqft studio. Well, now my rent is going to 2.6k/month and I'm at the breaking point. During the x-mas break, I was at a party and a friend told me about how he lives in a 4bed/2bath house. with 9 guys living there. He gave me an offer that I could move in for $500/month and I would get a shared room. so I decided to check the place out and I was sold on the overall setup.
I just told my landlord I'm not renewing and I'm moving out effective December 31st. Most of my stuff I'm just going to dump it next to the dumpsters so other people can have it. Most of this stuff I don't need anymore anyways.
Assuming this setup is tolerable, I'm considering cutting my hours to part time only, maybe 16 hours a week is my thinking.
So this looks like my new years resolution: cutting the bullshit out of my life (stupid idea that I need to live in a downtown studio for nightlife) and cutting my hours at work so I can have some peace in my life.
