She sent me an article this morning that discussed how organizations are now looking to hire retired workers who retired a year early. They are calling this strategy of hiring retired people returning to workforce “returnships” or “reskilling.” Their explanation is they are trying to hire retired people because they have “maturity”, “reliability” , and “work-ethic” that young peoplr don't have. I find this so dystopian because these people worked for decades and instead of addressing the problem of capitalism we rather put a blind fold over folks and use all this jargon to make it look like a good thing that retired people are returning to workforce because they can't afford to live in this country! I am so sick.
