So, today I went to a family get together. One of the older retired guys said “There's tons of jobs. Nobody wants to work anymore”. I said no, no place wants to pay anymore. He seemed genuinely offended by that. I showed him the prices for rent on 1 br apartments, and what most of those “tons of jobs” were paying. Then he went into the standard 'kids wasting money' spiel and “Well, you need to do what you have to, so you can survive. I'd work 2 jobs if I had to.” I just told him I'm not planning on surviving, if it just means work is my life.
This was all after HE brought up how insane housing prices were, and how everything is more expensive. I'm so sick of all of these out of touch older people who aren't in the workforce anymore. Go enjoy your pensions, senior discounts, subsidized health insurance, paid off homes or discounted apartment communities, and paid off student loans – while you're at it, make sure you whine more about Social Security needing a raise. Yeah, the same social security that's being paid for by people who'll never see a dime of it returned.
I'm not even a young kid. I'll be 47 this year, and I can't stand the previous generation(s). Hopefully the hotter climate will wipe some of them out over the next few years. Yeah, that climate they refuse to admit is changing and becoming more extreme. Jokes on them, as they get older… nothing's more anti-work than death.
