I'm a 26 year old who just graduated a month ago from a community college after struggling with mental issues the last decade or so. It's a nice accomplishment that took a long time to do. Simple as that. I have had jobs for years during this time that I received help.
However, I've just applied in the last month or so to about ~400 different jobs. I'm well qualified to punch numbers into a computer at an office or go into training to do SOMETHING. But I am getting rejected, ghosted, or having time wasted by companies leading me on.
My lowest point was that I got rejected by a Wendy's. A FUCKING WENDY'S told me that I was “OVERQUALIFIED”. Now how does this even work?
I'm at the stage where I just feel pity towards people who are doing absolutely nothing and getting paid to do so. Granted, I don't really understand how “social media jobs” work but the fact that someone is getting paid to post selfies and promote crap items OVER someone who is slaving away using their hands is a flaw in our system.
I'm disillusioned by this and I am at the point where I feel like my life is already over before I've ever started it.
Fuck this.
