How it is at all unacceptable to take your breaks? 1 place I work supposedly allows employees 2 breaks: a 30 for lunch and a 15 for rest. Not bad, all things considered… except that’s not actually how it goes down.
Had my (new, at the time) manager start this whole thing by trying to tell me that employees only actually get 1 or the other. A quick reference to the handbook and an email to HR sorted it out quickly enough, but he eventually went straight back to just saying “no.” Not after he decided it was at all appropriate to give me shit for taking 2 breaks by telling me “You’re the only one in the company who takes 2 breaks.” Out of the 2-300 locations this company has, I do so very highly doubt that, but whatever.
I also doubt that there are any legal repercussions, but god help me, I can’t even begin to wrap my head around that way of thinking (whatever it really is). Do you want your employees in constant pain and discomfort? Ibuprofen and insoles can only do so much when you’re standing, running around and slinging heavy ass cases for several hours. Is a paid 15 minute break really such a big deal? Are you gonna lose money out your own paycheck because not 100% of the employees in the building are slaving away at any given moment?
EDIT: missed a word
