Someone, please give me the strength to write my resignation.

Hi everyone, I… Really need help. I started working as a reconciliation specialist with a small mortgaging company around 1 year ago, and the urge to quit has been overwhelming me for almost 6 months now. I'm getting paid dirt compared to my coworkers because I'm younger, and the workload is intense. Especially since in the year I've been here, I've seen about 5-7 people leave/quit our department. Recently, they sold off the majority of my department to a larger corporation, and they're planning on leaving me behind with the original company to keep up with the loans they couldn't sell. I'm terrified that they're going to keep piling more and more work on me, even though my current boss keeps saying it will be easier on me since “there's only going to be about 16,000″ loans left behind”. This job is genuinely making me want to die and I've…

This job is genuinely making me want to die and I've slowly gotten really behind in my work as a result, but I know if I submit my resignation there's literally no one staying with the company who would know how to reconcile the remaining loans and it would only cause the process to be even more behind. I already feel bad for being behind on the work in general, but if I leave with so much undone, the work is going to fall on my boss to catch up before the company shifts over in a month.

If you didn't bother reading all this, that's okay. I think I just need the motivation to write my resignation and stop caring about my boss's feelings.

Any words of advice are appreciated… Thanks for stopping by.
