My son was working at the local movie theater after high school and his manager came into the break room and told the employees that they were all doing such a great job, they were getting a $1/hr raise!! Whoo hoo, right? Staff is EXCITED!! My son says, to the group, “You mean the minimum wage increase that we voters passed last fall that is mandatory?” The manager was PISSED to hat he knew that and spoke out; none of the others did. They started asking him questions and he googled the new law to show them. From that moment on, she had it in for him; started writing him up on technicalities, things everyone did. On the 3rd write up, she fired him. Corporate contacted him and asked (practically begged) him to protest his firing and he said, “Nah, I’m good.” He said you could tell they wanted him to call her out, but he couldn’t be bothered, hated that job anyway.
