Soon-to-be-unemployed

I work at a specialty boutique for a major luxury brand (read: I sell expensive clothes to rich people). The specialty line I work for is shutting down. Most designer/couture labels are consolidating their branding (no more Armani Exchange, no more Versus by Versace, no more Marc by Marc Jacobs) and that includes the unnamed maison I work for. Everyone here knew we would be shut down, the company announced our impending shut down almost two years ago, but we’ve been told (verbally, never in writing) that we would be closing in December. However. People from corporate have been coming in to “inspect the location”. People from the outlet, assuming we knew, chatted with us about how we are closing at the end of this month.

Our sister boutique’s staff have all been officially laid off. At my boutique we have four employees, the sister has two dozen, but none of the employees here have even been officially told we’re being laid off. Back room stock is being moved to the outlet as I type this.

Do the employees here have any legal right to know of the date of the store’s closure? Nobody from corporate has replied to emails or texts in over a week. It’s also my first “real job” (full time and full benefits) so I’m not sure what my rights are once I’m terminated.

Edit: I’m in California, USA
