So, MLK said there was honor in all work and I've tried to work hard out of ethics, no matter what I do. I am but a humble janitor but I am the site manager. I make a whopping $12/hr and we can't get anyone to come work under me because my company only pays that position $10/hr. I am a single dad and when I took this job, I asked if I would be able to work during the breaks, as I work at a college campus. I was told that there has always been detail cleaning work on spring and winter break. So with 2 days before spring break I was told there was no money in our budget for spring break and all janitorial staff on all campuses had to take the week off with no pay. My boss was bummed too but was like “we'll be ok.” Like, who's “we?!?” I'm not ok. That 1/4 of my monthly income! That was my rent! No I'm our here shoplifting dinner for me and my kids.
