A Starbucks located three blocks from my apartment was abruptly shut down. The article says management was told the shutdown was due to “safety concerns.” I can tell you that’s bullshit. The Plaza area of Kansas City is one of the safest places in the city. While there was a shooting nearly two weeks ago, a couple of blocks away, that was an anomaly. This location was always slammed with business too. If Starbucks cared about safety, they would close down their sites in actual high-crime areas of the city.
This shutdown only came after employees were organizing a union vote.
