As much as my store manager annoys me sometimes, she came in to work today and… Someone asked whether she had a radio so they could let her know something. Someone else replied that she technically wasn't supposed to be there today, which is why she didn't have a vest or radio the whole time she was there.
Are we supposed to work off the clock? NO. Was it expressly said in the training “never work off the clock”? YES. But corporate cut hours and she had stuff to do today, evidently. So she was there. And… Like I said, as annoying as she can be sometimes, I actually do like her. And I feel bad.
And she probably has plenty of employees annoyed at her, too, since she can't give hours out… Not a problem for me living with my parents, but like a HUGE problem for anyone depending on income.
I dunno. It's stressful and it makes me worry about how the store is doing, because both as an employee and a customer I would absolutely hate to lose it. And her coming in for what was possibly a whole day unpaid makes me depressed about how awful the system of work is.
