Had my annual review today. I've been in this role for 4+ years and on this pay scale for even longer. I've met all my objectives yet again, tbh I could do this job with my eyes shut and I'm reasonably well paid. When I expressed my disappointment at the lack of opportunities for progression my manager suggested I “seek out a stretch assignment”. What that means is more responsibility for no extra money, GTF. When I moved into this role I took over from someone who was paid more than me, if anything it's already a stretch assignment!
Honestly I'd leave, but the money considering my lack of responsibility is like crack. Just venting.
