Strung along for a month

I gotta vent this shit. I interviewed for a new office admin position at a local HVAC company. It was $17 an hour with benefits, which is unfortunately the best prospect I’ve had so far in my job search. I killed that interview. I did so well I had them laughing and thanking me multiple times for coming in. They told me they would get back to me in a few days. Next week comes, the HR guy is emailing me explaining that there’s a hold up, but that I am the leading candidate for the job.

Basically keeping my interest so that I don’t accept a position at another company.

The next week comes. Multiple emails with the same kind of content keeping me interested.

It’s been a month. I’m keeping afloat by freelancing. They have emailed me over a dozen times telling me all the same things to keep my interest. Telling me I’m the lead candidate, they just need the owner to give the final approval.

The old ass owner came in today. Guess what. He decided he didn’t want to hire any new people.

Everyone in the office was surprised. The HR guy even said I have more than good reasons to be disappointed. They thought the position was cemented.

Fuck this. I’m a fucking idiot. Don’t believe anything a company tells you. These companies don’t care about you.

Back to square one. Thankfully I kept applying to jobs during this time, I’m not completely left in the dust.
