So I've had a nasty cold since Sunday and I've called out of my job for 3 days considering I don't want to get anyone sick, y'know general courtesy to not give your germs to everyone, not to mention I'm struggling to breathe with asthma and a cough and I do a physically strenuous job generally with a mask on. Only three hours of my sick leave were paid and the rest is unpaid, yet they have implemented “consequences” as they have literally put it on our work portal for unpaid callouts. for every amount of time we take off we are given attendance points, the higher the number of points, the less likely you are to receive a full schedule when there isn't enough work to go around (I'm a housekeeper for context). I feel horrible and anxious about taking time off for my own health as well as the well being of my customers and co-workers, I understand that they want to discourage people from calling out but I'm literally just being punished for having a cold. There are so many stupid rules at this company and I can't wait to fuckin quit, I feel my brain cells dying when I try to wrap my head around the policies they put in place, the turnover rate here is incredibly high with people often quitting in the first few weeks,, wonder why :|… Someone please reassure me that it's okay to be sick and take time off for that because it's not feeling that way. I can't even begin to imagine the sheer amount of apathy it takes to run a company, especially this poorly. Damn you capitalism :'|
