Just in the last week alone, there have been the following stories (U.S.):
– the end of Roe v. Wade and the potential for a nationwide abortion ban on top of states banning contraceptives
– the United States is preparing for a summer of blackouts nationwide
– an impending recession (and whatever the hell is going on with this crypto / NFT shite)
– 1 million official covid deaths and a prediction that we will be seeing 100MM+ infections this fall / winter
– a UN report that we have a 50/50 shot of hitting the 1.5 degree temperature increase within five years that could lead to rapidly deteriorating conditions worldwide
All of this on top of the ongoing housing crisis, the student loan crisis that will soon be a problem once again, supply chain issues and possible food shortages, and the general disgust with which the elites view all of us, my theory is that this summer is going to be the most impactful for the US labor movement in decades.
Think about it: how much societal unrest and general disruption resulted from a fucking MASK MANDATE with a global pandemic raging? What are people going to do when we get a convergence of a fledgling economy with the crypto bros pilfering the final remains of people's livelihoods as one last cash grab, record heat waves with lack of A/C due to blackouts, backlash to the Roe v. Wade decision that could parallel 2020's protests, and another looming pandemic nightmare? Over the past few years people have been forced to work through some insane circumstances, but all of that is going to be child's play if 1/4th of this materializes as it appears it will and the elites continue ignoring our concerns.
Now is the time to be having these conversations with your friends, families, coworkers, etc. Organize your workplaces and don't let this impending nightmare take people by surprise.
