My general manager yelled at me one morning because I got changed after I clocked in and disappeared for 10 minutes. On top of this, I had to wait tables with an incompetent elderly lady who second guesses herself and can only really host and wait tables. There were 4 of us. We didn’t even get to keep our tips because we had to pool ours, so we walked away with $10-15 each day.
I worked there for 2-3 months biking 4-8 miles a day because my friend at the time was the f&b manager but she left in July. And she told management I had quit at my old job but I was still working both jobs. She also told management I wasn’t in school/didn’t work my other job so they stopped being able to honor my schedule requests because of that. Why do we have to verify our employment for a part time job? In addition, the pay was terrible and the customers were about as entitled as you’d expect in a southern predominantly white college town. We had roaches which somehow warranted us a B from the health department idk. We were talking about having a servers appreciation day which was just us having food after breakfast service but we literally did the same thing with housekeeping. We get food after the banquets anyways so it’s just for formality to say “oh we appreciate you, get back to work.” I hated every minute of it. Sunday morning I just blocked everyone including the store and just went back to bed. I didn’t text the housing manager until yesterday saying I officially quit. So glad to be done with that shit show of a job.
The way the schedule is set up, the senile lady can’t be on the shift by herself because she can’t learn how to use the POS (if no one can use the pos or print off tickets then we have to give food away for free) which leaves the other girl having to cover for the woman who has kids and can only show up in the last 2 hours and yet is still allowed a share of the tips we made. I’m so glad to be done with this job and go back to my old one. I loved being able to get paid the same day and not having a lion’s share taken out of my earnings.
