Sweetie Are You Willing to Work

I went into a printing and shipping store to do an application inside for a part time associate position. Midway through the application an employee asked me “Sweetie are you willing to work?” And when I replied yes (because why else would I be doing this application) but I am a college student with limited availability he went on about how college students aren't there when they need them. So I ask him if that basically disqualified me and if so can he shred my application and he backtracked saying he would talk to the owner. Nothing else happened interpersonally but I got terrible work boundary vibes. I am looking to be part time and that's that so that interaction on top of an application riddled with questions about going above and beyond learning what you need to outside of hours was a massive rrd flag.
