I work in a factory making aircraft parts. I worked swing shift for the first 7 years. It's a 10hr shift from 3:15pm to 1:45am. They have 10 min breaks at 6pm and 12am and a 40 min dinner break at 8:30. Recently my work offered 10 HR shifts to day shift but are keeping the single 10 min break and 40 min lunch break schedule for the old 8hr shift. Some day shift people are staying on the 8 HR shift. I asked my manager about the missing 10 min break for those of us on 10 HR schedule and he said he would look into it 2 months ago.
Has anyone else dealt with inconsistency between shifts. I don't want to be an agitator since I like my manager. My coworkers don't seem to care that they are being shorted a break. Am I SOL on this? Is it up to the company?
