I am a new dad in Seattle, and I was laid off today after over 7 years of working for the company. I returned 5 weeks ago from 12 weeks off work for family leave after my child was born. This is the second child I've had and second 12 week leave I've taken since 2020 when my other child was born. The company offered to pay me $9000 severance pay if I sign a release of all claims against them. They supposedly also laid off other people today not just me.
Do I have a claim against them? Possibly for retaliation or discrimination since they laid me off after I took the legal amount of family leave? Should I just take the severance and forget it? Or is there a case for me since they wrongfully terminated me after many years with no performance issues and only positive reviews?
Any replies are appreciated
