I'm IT Manager and the only programmer at a kids attraction I work at I the UK.
My background is in childcare and management; so I have experience in HR, payroll, law, selling, policies. Sort of jack of all trades.
I'm really happy just having programming, in charge of tills but I understand and am willing to step up to help in other areas if need be.
Well in August our supervisor and HR hooked up and quite. Leaving us with no one to look after our 60 under 18 (we employ 14 to 16 year olds) and HR had done no paperwork for months.
So I get asked to sort it, fine no problem there. Child employment is fixed, train up some other staff to supervisor level. All good.
Then I get asked to advertise jobs and arrange interviews. Also fine. It'll help me in long run.
I get a list of jobs and ask for details, descriptions, bonuses, salary..
Wtf, most of the jobs are the same or more than me! Relocation bonus. Transport. Food paid for.
A set designer is on nearly a quarter more!
I work my arse off to keep that farm running, train up staff, keep these children in employment, to keep yo council demands and do my normal role.
I asked why and its because they're only contracting for 3 or 4 months.
And! I work at the same pace all year for you, if there is a problem when I'm off ill come in or fix it remotely. I'll pick up the slack. Just cause they work a few months means they're worth more!
I'm so fed up. Should I be feeling let down or am I in the wrong. Are they taking advantage of me?
