My SO is applying for a job as a server/bartender via indeed. She had to take a quiz about proper food storage procedures, cooking procedures, etc, that did NOT have anything to do with a bartender position. I've bartended for years and have NEVER needed to know this information. While most of it is decently common sense, I'm so infuriated that a quiz on this stuff will ultimately matter in the decision of whether or not she gets the job, let alone gets an interview.
Does this seem crazy to anyone else? If they want to give a quick “how do you make an old fashioned” question on the application or in the interview, fine. But she applied for a FOH position and they are quizzing her in BOH stuff before she can even submit an application. No wonder “nobody wants to work anymore”.
