I just got a new job at target (it’s a side gig for school so it’s not that serious). However I couldn’t help but laugh at the videos we had to watch during orientation.
Basically they entail each worker speaking about their experience in their own department. One worker goes on to brag about how they view their department as their “own personal business” and boasts about their own department making over $1million/year.
Then we have modules about how we should treat our own areas as personal business ventures and basically try to make as much money as possible.
It’s idiotic and insulting. A single area of the store can have millions of dollars in sales yet the employees only make $15/hr. Then the corporation has the gall to think “this will make a great inspiring video!”
