Everyone should write your representatives asking for a progressive tax on those that own multiple properties.
1 home should have low property taxes to encourage home ownership.
A second home should have reasonably tax rates, the dream of owning a rental unit or vacation home is reasonable, but should be taxed.
A third home should have high tax rates, only profitable as a rental unit in places where demand for rentals is very high.
A forth home should be taxed at a rate that could never be profitable as a rental unit.
This would discourage entities from buying homes by the dozen and using them as permanent rental units. This would increase housing supply and lower the cost of buying a house, a massive win for regular people trying to get a place to live.
