Planned to post this a few months ago. Forgot.
So i've been working for this company for 3 years as a manager. With my first contract i agreed with a lower salary which would have been increased after a year. Well, covid came and the company froze all the salary increases. Fyi, the company i worked for got hit hard and i was lucky to still have a job. They even renewed my contract twice during lockdowns. Gratefull as i was, i thought things would turn for the better after covid and kept my head down.
It all went sideways. My “boss” hasnt been a manager/boss for over a year. Me and my collegue had many meetings about this whole situation with the CEO. We were covering up everything and that took a hard toll on us. Since my boss had been “so good”, according to the ceo, for the company all these years, he got off with a warning and he had to promise he would change. Promises were made after all the meetings with us and all seemed fine for a short period. After a few months the “boss” went back to his pattern of not doing shit and us covering up everything to ensure the company wouldnt be affected.
Then my collegue put in his one months notice. Well fml. That meant i had to cover all his tasks, since he wouldnt be replaced. Finding a replacement in this field is nearly impossible. So i knew it was time to find a new job myself.
Okay breathe in and breathe out. I really tried to see the whole situation as something that could have a positive outcome. It didnt. No new hires so i was screwed untill i found a new job.
Since the busy period was coming up, i wanted to atleast help them het through this. They've been loyal during covid, so this is the least i could do. It would only have been for three months.
My contract renewal came. Knowing there was money to increase my wage. And expecting it to finally be substantially raised, apart from the regular mandatory raise, it didnt. I got some vague bonusses which would only be payed out of we reached certain goals that never could have been reached imo.
So f×ck them. Two weeks after the contract meeting I found a new job which pays 20% more, less stressfull, more familytime, more paid days off, closer to home and better hours.
My former boss even tried to screw me over when i put in my one months notice. I had two weeks paid vacation remaining. They only wanted to give me one. Wasnt going to happen. So two weeks after landing the new job is was gone. Leaving them with a big puzzle how to manage everything.
I still have some contact with my former collegues and they tell me everything turned out like i thought it would. Everyone is slowly quitting and they cant find replacements. They even had to cancel certain clients because they couldnt get them staffed.
Fxck them. They got what they deserve.
Edit: this was a large construction company.
