I'm broke. I have no money, I just moved to a new city, and can't even afford a mattress in my shoebox apartment. I apply to a job that claims 10.75 an hour, full time. Not great, but I'd like to eat, yk? I get there, do the interview, everyone is super friendly. We get to discussing salary. Hiring manager does this really sweet “we're not going to pay you that little”. 13.50 and hour. Awesome, I think, maybe I can spend less than half my income on rent. Then I get told I'm going to have to “earn” a full time position. They'll be starting me off working three days a week. How the hell do they expect me to keep open availability when they're forcing me to pick up a second job if I want to not be homeless? Ridiculous.
