Hi I’m looking for some advice and help. So I work with children in a one on one setting for multiple hours. Our policy is if a child throws up or has a fever they are sent home for 24 hours or until non symptomatic. I do like this policy as kids can get sick and expose us to really weird sicknesses.
So yesterday right before I was about to start with a kid the person before me messaged me saying he threw up and she needs help cleaning up. So I left my lunch break early to come in and help. And we along with my boss got it all cleaned up. It was definitely quite a lot it covered most of the trampoline. So anyways I ask my boss when his mom is coming to pick him up and she says he’s not going home and that she decided he just coughed up mucus so he’s going to stay.
So I told her I was extremely uncomfortable with that because for one it was a lot so I don’t beleive it was just mucus, and I don’t want to expose myself to it. Especially because our children are special needs so they often like lick us or try to bite or try to stick their fingers in our mouths. So it is a lot of exposure. And she tells me it doesn’t matter and that even if he’s sick I’ve already been exposed, and she’s adamant that it’s just mucus. But in my mind our policy is just if the child throws up they get sent home, not if they throw up we look at it and try to determine if we think it was a sick throw up or not.
Anyways because I said I was uncomfortable she sent me home without pay and told me we will talk about it tomorrow, which is now today. I’m going to talk to her in a few hours and I’m very nervous about what to say. But I want to stand my ground as I don’t want to get put with sick kids. Also TEXAS
