Every time an article breaks about Powell raising the interest rate, I inevitably hear something about it from my parents…something along the lines of “this is for the greater good” or “it won't last very long” as if they suddenly became economists overnight. Now, my parents are admittedly fairly liberal, but that doesn't mean they don't succumb to neoliberal “logic” (logical fallacies morelike). When I say that it doesn't have to be this way and that Powell is looking out for his corporate buddies, I get a lecture about how I'm not working hard enough and that I need to get over it. You know, bootstrap shit.
Sometimes it feels like I can't be around my parents. I know not everyone here has the greatest relationship to theirs, but for those that do, on top of the economic fallout, do you notice this trend?? Like I feel like I cannot get through. I feel like an economic pawn in the grand scheme of things just working working working until I drop dead. These people in the Fed and government are monsters.
