I work in a hospital as a pharmacy technician. The work is really fun and i enjoy it! but i hate the benefits.
If we are working late shift we are expected to stay till the last patient leaves. Which fair, people need their medications. But wtf do i need the closing staff to take down my name and time i work… and then i raise the overtime pay myself with hr? YOU HAVE A FUCKING LIST. I realised this too late and work i did three months ago is ‘unclaimable’. Not to mention before i was a full time staff and just an intern there was no OT pay. And yet I’m still expected to stay? Fuck no. The worse part is, you can only claim if you worked more than half an hour. wtf…? if i worked 29mins you just gave them 29 mins of your life with no pay.
i didn’t even know i could claim medical fees but ok, i’m dumb. i’m just fresh out of a diploma, how am i supposed to know things that no one tells me?
this is supposed to be the ‘oldest hospital in the country?’ the most reliable? why is everyone leaving after a year? and you wonder why no one wants to stay to work for you. we are screamed at by patients and doctors alike. for a barely 2k a month job. i travel 1hr one way a day to make it and no transport fares. god forbid me wear a dress that shows three fingers above my knees.
ok rant over. they paid my school fees so i’m stuck for another two years
edit: remembered more things to rant about. when they confirmed me (after i finished my probation) about one month ago they basically said ‘congrats! now you can take leave. which is all booked up till next year’ i know a coworker who has to get the boss’s approval to attend his SISTER’S WEDDING. you can give us all the free stuff you want. why don’t you actually help us get better pay? better benefits? why does my leave have to be approved by a group of people? if i was sick that day and i messaged someone who didn’t reply, you would be considered MIA. why?
the training is so difficult i know so many people that just took a sick leave because they couldn’t stand it. i know someone that cried herself to sleep from the tough training. why? why is healthcare like this? patients already treat us like shit. why can’t you take care of us as your employees?
