So I'm a senior about to graduate in 3 weeks but I've been working in education for 3 years teaching English as a second language to university students and doing content writing and translation. I wanted to apply for this school and my cousin works there and told me they have a vacancy and sent them my CV, they called me back and had me do a demo all while knowing I'm still graduating and my age (23). I got accepted and met the principal and heads and everything and they sent me to the HR department in a different location to literally just sign the contract.
When I arrived I was surprised to see the HR lady giving me an application to fill and conducting an interview as if I was just applying for the job and even though we discussed my three years of teaching work(she completely disregarded my writing and translation work as if it's irrelevant), she kept constantly referring to the fact that I was young and “inexperienced” and kept referring to my “small resume” in a joking but annoying manner until I eventually told her I feel like you're undermining my experience. At the end she gave me a low offer with the excuse that I “basically don't have experience”. What's ironic is, had I not been a fresh graduate with the same three years of experience I bet I would've been treated differently.
