I feel like here in the US we are conditioned to value the “mom and pop” shop as opposed to the evil corporate behemoths. While I do love supporting small stores especially independent book stores, coffee shops and hardware stores I was recently reading about how well Costco seems to treat their employees with higher wages and benefits. Even Amazon, a place I quit from the same day I started, offers comparatively higher starting wages and day one benefits. My question to the community is what your experience has been, good or bad, working for a behemoth or small business. Lastly, unionization. We are seeing starbucks unionize across the country. Is this a condition of Starbucks being a large company with lots of employees and does that make behemoths preferable in the pursuit of complete worker unionization?
