Bait and switch shit…anyone else have this happen?
After applying for a full time machine operator position and being called in for an interview, this was the human resources final conversation with me.
“We'd love to offer you a position”
“Great, I'm excited to get started with your company. “
“How do you feel about starting off loading trucks?”
“Ah, do we need to make scheduling changes? Temporarily, I'm ok with it as long as my pay is where we discussed previously”
“Everyone starts at entry level positions, We only promote from within. It doesn't matter if they've been in the industry 10 years…don't worry you'll move up quick. We're really looking for qualified machine operators…they make around $30-$45 an hour.. you're exactly what we're looking for, you will fit in great. You'll start at $12 an hour loading trucks and once your 90 day probation is over we'll revisit this and discuss bringing you on permanently with full benefits.”
“I make $30 an hour now. I have multiple trade relevant certificates and years of experience on this machinery. I have kids, a house and bills…why would I want to take a pay cut and start over at the bottom… Your ad said your looking for experienced operators immediately…you really want unskilled cheap labor for 90 days”
