So a little background: i work in a restaurant and to run half way decently it needs 3 people: a head chef, a cook on the line and a dishwasher. I'm the dishwasher, gopher, and prep cook. If we had 4 people i could stay in dish and life would be a lot easier for everyone.
the cook has decided to be no-call, no-show for the past 2 days with some lame ass excuse so hes now out and fired. He was an ignorant, misogynist creep that i had to threaten once because he made a rape comment to a server. The only good thing i could say is that his work ethic was good and his abilities in the kitchen werent bad at all (still a POS tho).
So whats my problem with the owner? I heard from the head chef that the owner was berating the cook thru the phone and on text, calling him a POS and an asshole for leaving us high and dry. Both me and the head chef were just like 'how about you take some of that energy and call up the other TWO GODDAMN RESTAURANTS YOU OWN THAT ARE ALL 30 MINS AWAY FROM EACH OTHER AND GET ANOTHER BODY IN THIS FUCKING KITCHEN'. We do all catering for the owner (on and off site) so he can make extra money, the largest kitchen (but we have the least amount of people working) and this dude is wasting his time on the waste of space that is the other cook when there has to be SOMEBODY that could probably cut their commute down by coming over to our kitchen. I've been working in kitchens for 10 years (i wanted dish cuz im in school and just didnt want the aggravation) and this is the easiest place ive ever worked at. Maybe somebody needs an extra shift, whatever.
I'm too busy to give a fuck about somebody thats not coming back. I swear to god if i bring this up to the owner next time i see him and he looks at me like he didnt realize that he wasted everyones time by going into a rage instead of making sure we could operate imma be fucking pissed
